Californian Bridle Horse Clinic

with Jeff Derby

We are hosting here in West Dorset, a Californian Bridle Horse clinic with Bridle Horseman Jeff Derby originally from Arizona but now located in Spain. This art of riding is contributed to the Vaqueros ( the locals ) who worked for the Spanish who set up missions in and around California ! They learnt to ride in a more classical high school seat from the Spanish and used this to manage the cattle for the Spanish settlers when the cattle markets developed ! They designed their own saddles and bridles such as the Jaquima or Hackamore and became revered for their skills on horseback.

For more info on the history please check out the blog page.

Clinic format is 6 riders who will be coached individually by Jeff each day for the three days and a limited amount of spectators ( due to size of venue) are welcome.

There will be talks and explanations from Jeff throughout the days.

Joe Parker and Laura Adcock (JP Horsemanship) from 318 Horse Supplies will be here with amazing skills and crafts. Joe a Master bridle and saddler maker and Laura a Master Braider of beautiful hackamores, mecates and ropes.
